The 8-Week Digital SAT Math Roadmap to Break the 650+ Barrier

Why Unstructured Practice Test Grinding Fails

The most common prep plan we see goes like this: download a stack of practice tests, take one every weekend, and hope the score climbs. It feels productive. In reality, it's one of the slowest ways to raise a score.

Without a phased plan, students spend hours on whatever happens to show up in the next test, including low-yield topics that appear once or twice per exam. Meanwhile, the Algebra and Advanced Algebra questions that make up roughly 70% of the section get the same random attention as everything else.

Random problem sets also don't fix the real issue in Module 1: timing friction. A student who solves every linear equation by hand will keep running short on time and keep making the same sign and fraction errors, no matter how many tests they take. Those errors decide whether they're routed to the Hard or Easy Module 2, and that routing decides their score ceiling.

A real plan works the other way around: fix the foundation and the habits first, then build speed and advanced skills on top of them.

The 8-Week Action Plan

Each phase builds on the one before it. Don't skip ahead: Week 6 strategy only works once the Weeks 1–4 habits are automatic.

  1. Phase 1

    Weeks 1–4

    Foundations & Habit Install

    Goal:
Consolidate Linear/Basic Algebra, Quadratics, and Exponents. Pass Module 1 adaptive routing.
    Focus:
Installing time-saving calculator habits in Desmos to eliminate manual arithmetic errors.
  2. Phase 2

    Week 5

    Acceleration Level 1 (Mastery)

    Goal:
Rational, Radical, & Polynomial Expressions. Secure the 650+ threshold.
    Focus:
Translating complex word problems into clean algebraic structures quickly.
  3. Phase 3

    Week 6

    Acceleration Level 2 (Strategy)

    Goal:
Complex systems of non-linear equations & advanced function analysis.
    Focus:
Mastering top-tier Hard Module 2 question types under timing constraints.
  4. Phase 4

    Week 7

    Application Lab

    Goal:
Timed drills on high-leverage Algebra + Geometry/Trig formula review.
    Focus:
Speed optimization, formula execution, and enforcing skip/flag strategies.
  5. Phase 5

    Week 8

    Score Launch

    Goal:
Test-day strategies, mindset coaching, 100% domain coverage.
    Focus:
Final taper and execution under test-day conditions.

How to Benchmark Your Teen's Readiness

A Quick Diagnostic for Parents

Print this page and show the Week 6 topic list (non-linear systems and advanced function transformations) to your student. Ask them how confident they feel solving these under time pressure.

If they feel unsure, they need targeted intervention before test day.
